Brown Too Much For Argos, Lead Red Storm to 66-59 Win

Box Score

BELMONT, Calif. -- Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) turned in her second straight dominating performance today to lead Dixie State to a 66-59 win over Notre Dame de Namur at the Walter Gleason Gym.

Brown dropped 26 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, her 13th double double of the season.

Clinging to a 32-28 halftime lead, the Red Storm (12-11, 10-5 PWC) used a quick 7-0 run out of intermission to lead 39-28 with 16:26 left in the second half.

The Argos tried to put together a comeback as a Taylor Dewees three pointer cut the Red Storm lead to two points at 47-45 with 8:53 left.

Brown followed out the media timeout scoring seven straight points and Erica Hayes (East Palo Alto, CA/Menlo-Atherton) hit from dowtown to give DSU a nine point lead.

The Storm shot 41.5 percent from the field, but the real factor in the game was their ability to take care of the basketball. DSU committed a season low 10 turnovers in the game, nearly half of what they average.

The post play of Brown, Becca Thomas (Riverside, CA/Redwood) (9pts) and Mandy Munns (Brigham City, UT/Box Elder) (11 pts) helped DSU out rebound NDNU 41-37.

With the loss the Argos drop to 3-19 overall and 2-12 in PWC. Taylor Dewees hit six three pointers enroute to her 23 points.

The Red Storm return home after the nine day four game road trip. They host BYU-Hawaii at the Burns Arena on Saturday night at 5:00 pm.
