Red Storm Drop First PacWest Match to Azusa Pacific

Box Score SAINT GEORGE, UT -- The Dixie State volleyball team had their six game winning streak snapped as they were upended in four games to Azusa Pacific 25-22, 19-25, 21-25, 26-28 at the Student Activities Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Storm (9-4/6-1 PWC) dropped its first Pacific West Conference match of the season and after rattling off six straight wins.

Outside hitter Maddie Rex (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) led the Storm with 17 kills and Haylee Wilkes (Salt Lake City, UT/Brighton) powered the defense with 19 digs. DSU managed to hit just .127 for the match despite registering 12 blocks as a team.

The Cougars (11-4/4-2 PWC) were led by Mattie Shleford who had 14 kills and three others who added a dozen each.

DSU departs on a quick three match road swing with a match on Thursday at California Baptist, Friday at Point Loma, and concludes on Saturday with a rematch with Azusa Pacific.
