STORM LOOK TO EVEN SEASON SERIES WITH WOLVES
Dixie State opens the second round of games in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference football season at home with the Wolves of Western Oregon. Kickoff from Hansen Stadium is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19. The game will be broadcast live by ESPN SportsRadio 106.1 FM with John Potter (play-by-play), Devin Dixon (analyst) and Patrick Blake (sideline) calling the action. CEC-Television brings the visuals on Baja Channel 22 with Ryan Forsey and Justin Forman.

RED STORM VS. THE WOLVES
In 13 previous meetings, the Western Oregon Wolves have beat Dixie State on 11 separate occasions, including six of the last seven matchups. In the last three games, the home team was victorious in GNAC contests. Western Oregon won this season's earlier meeting, 51-32, in Monmouth. Last year, Dixie State defeated WOU 24-10 on Sept. 8, 2012 to break a four-game skid. Five weeks later, Western Oregon celebrated a Homecoming win over DSU, 66-20. The Red Storm are 2-4 all-time against WOU at home. The Storm's first win at Hansen was on Oct. 10, 2009, when DSU forced six turnovers to win, 31-23.

WILDCATS COMEBACK ON HOMECOMING TO EDGE RED STORM
Jesse Zalk scored the tying touchdown on a seven-yard reception with 2:28 left, then set up a 44-yard game-winning field goal by Sean McDonald with a 26-yard catch to the Dixie 29 with 14 seconds remaining as Central Washington rallied from a 17-3 halftime deficit to edge Dixie State. CWU won despite being outgained by the Red Storm 479 to 341.  Dixie went up by 14 points at halftime, scoring on a 22-yard field goal by Dillon Bishoff (Monroe, UT/South Sevier) in the first quarter and on touchdowns by Myles Burton (Berkeley, CA/Rodriguez) and Joe Don Duncan (Corona, CA/Notre Dame) in the first and second periods.  Burton rushed for 106 yards, half of it on a 53-yard touchdown run with 4:08 remaining in the first quarter.  Duncan caught seven passes for 150 yards, including a 11-yard TD pass from Griff Robles (Spanish Fork, UT/Spanish Fork) at the 12:16 mark of the second period. Dixie had four opportunities to stretch its lead to three touchdowns in the second quarter and early in the third period.  Three times (in the second period) they turned the ball over on downs (on plays that originated from the CWU 8, 2 and 23).  Then on its first possession of the third period, DSU reached the CWU 8 before a blocked field goal by James Fakkema set up a 41-yard, 10-play TD drive by the Wildcats.  Quarterback Jake Nelson completed four passes to Zalk before Todd scored from four yards (on his sixth carry of the drive for 28 yards).  CWU then tied the game with 13:20 left in the fourth period on a 13-yard run by quarterback Jake Nelson. DSU on a 23-yard pass from Robles to Mitch Frei (Santa Clara, UT/Snow Canyon) retook the lead. Robles had 23 completions in 32 attempts for 362 yards. Linebacker Jake Duncan (Corona, CA/Notre Dame) led Dixie's defense with 16 tackles and a fumble recovery, while defensive back Robert Metz (Tucson, AZ/Canyon Del Oro) had eight tackles and also forced a fumble.

NOTABLES FROM THE CWU GAME:
For the first time in DSU program history, the team saw a 300-yard passer (Robles), 100-yard rusher (Burton), and two 100-yard receivers (J.D. Duncan, Frei) in the same game. Joe Don Duncan (Corona, CA/Notre Dame) broke his own single-season record with is 10th TD reception of the year (nine in 2011 as a junior). Jake Duncan (Corona, CA/Notre Dame) became the all-time DSU Division-II tackles leader, passing Teddy Owens, with 16 stops at CWU. Other career highs: Frei receiving yards (159), K.J. Boyer (St. George, UT/Pine View) sacks (2.0) and tackles for loss (3.0).

A WIN BY DIXIE STATE WOULD...
• Match the win total from the 2012 season, when the Red Storm went 3-8.
• Keep the Storm, at worst, two games back in the GNAC title race
• Be the 11th win in the month of October since the NCAA D-II transition in 2006; DSU is 10-22 in October games

ALL-AMERICAN DUNCAN
Senior tight end Joe Don Duncan (Corona, CA/Notre Dame) (Corona, CA) returns for his highly anticipated final year holding a prestigious accolade. Duncan was named to the D2Football.com Preseason All-American List on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Two seasons ago, Duncan earned all-league, all-region and multiple All-American honors after leading the country in receptions and yardage for a tight end. Phil Steele listed him as the 27th best draft eligible TE available and Lindy's Sports Annuals "Look Ahead" named Duncan as the ninth best TE in the country.
