VB: Red Storm Swept by California Baptist

Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- The Dixie State volleyball team began their three game road swing to Southern California with a loss to California Baptist on Thursday night. The Red Storm were swept in three games 24-26, 21-25, 17-25 in Riverside.

DSU drops their second straight match after rattling off six straight victories. They are now 9-5 overall and 6-2 in PacWest play.

In first game the Red Storm led 20-14 after a bad set by the Lancers. But, CBU battled back and cut the lead to 20-19 before DESC rattled off four straight points to take a 24-20 lead. They looked to be in control and were on the brink of taking the first game until a Lancer kill and three consecutive DSU tied the match at 24. Two straight kills gave CBU the come from behind victory and took the steam right out of the Red Strom sails.

Game two saw the two squads trade points until CBU used their momentum to steal the second game 25-21. Game three was all the Lancers as they put away the visiting Storm 17-25.

Shannon Young (Whittier, CA/St Paul) and Kendahl Weiland (Albany, OR/West Albany) each had six kills to lead DSU on offense. DSU managed to hit just .057 for the match compared to the Lancers who hit .206.

California Baptist improved ot 9-6 overall and 6-1 in PacWest play.

Dixie State travels to San Diego for tomorrow's match against Point Loma Nazarene. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST.
