Red Storm Put Away By #14 BYU Hawaii in Straight Sets

Laie, HI–The Dixie State College volleyball team lost to #14 B tonight in three games, 25-12, 25-16, and 25-14. The Red Storm's new record is 2-6 overall and 0-3 in the PacWest.
 
In the first game the Seasiders started off clean with zero errors, 13 kills, and a hitting percentage of .591.
 
In game two the Seasiders started off slowly, allowing the Red Storm get within two points at 11-9. The Seasiders then extended their lead and finished the set off with a nine point victory.
 
In the final game the Seasiders finished strong with 20 kills and only four errors.  The Seasiders out-hit the Red Storm .469 to .131 for the night.
 
Dixie State's Brita Jensen (Taylorsville, UT/Taylorsville) and Pauline VonDinklage (American Samoa/Fagaitua) led their team in kills, both with six.

Stella Chen blasted 17 kills to lead the Seasiders, with Lauren Hagemeyer hammering 14, while Michelle Tevaga powered her way to ten. Tevaga finished the night with no errors and a hitting percentage of .556, which is her new career record.  Michelle Chen put up 43 assists while Tevaga led the way defensively with nine digs.  Tevaga, Jacqueline Swarbrick, and Courtney Skaggs each finished with three blocks for the Seasiders.

The win puts the Seasiders at a 7-2 overall record and a 2-0 record in the Pacific Western Conference.

The Red Storm end their Hawaiian road trip with a match tonight at Hawaii Pacific, starting at 9:00 PM.
