THIS WEEK: Dixie State College heads to the Inland Empire of Southern California for its first Great Northwest road test of the year. The Red Storm face Azusa Pacific on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Citrus Stadium in Glendora. Kick off is scheduled for 6 p.m. Pacific, 7 p.m. Mountain.

•     Dixie State enters the conference game 1-1 (1-0 in the GNAC) after defeating Western Oregon 24-10 at Hansen Stadium last Saturday. The Red Strom forced six WOU turnovers en route to its second consecutive victory in GNAC openers.
•     The win by DSC snapped a nine-game losing skid dating back to last season – the longest skid in D-II history by three games.
This game will mark the first time that Dixie State and Azusa Pacific meet as league opponents in the GNAC. APU is in year two of NCAA Division II candidacy. The Cougars play in the GNAC for football and the Pacific West in all other sports.
•     The Red Storm are 2-3 all-time against Azusa Pacific. Last season, APU downed the Red Storm 48-19 in a non-league game played in St. George.
• Dixie State does own a win in the series with APU on the road. That victory came on Oct. 25, 2008 – a 30-23 win in front of 2,932 fans in Southern California.
Azusa Pacific will introduce its spread offense to the GNAC this fall, but will be missing two key players off of last year's team that advanced to the NAIA playoffs. Quarterback John van Raadt, who rushed for 1,200 yards and threw for 1,875 yards doesn't return. The Cougars will also be without running back Johnell Murphy who rushed for 1,078 yards.  Back from last year's team are two players who did post impressive rushing statistics. Terrell Watson netted 697 yards and 15 touchdowns, while David Trifeletti had 439 yards and scored four touchdowns.
