Red Storm fall to Seawolves 2-1

DSC closes opening classis 0-1-1

ST. GEORGE – Sonoma State soccer sent a barrage of shots toward the Dixie State College goal on Saturday morning en route to a 2-1 nonconference win in the 2012 DSC Soccer Kickoff Classic.
 
The Seawolves picked up their second win of the year against Pacific West Conference opponents. Dixie State moves to 0-1-1.
 
Kelsey Hansen (Spark, NV/Reed) connected from 12 yards out off a Megan Marchbanks (Springville, UT/Springville) assist with 13 seconds left in regulation to avoid the shutout for Dixie State. Abby Johnson (Escondido, CA/Mission Hills) made nine saves on 12 Sonoma shots on goal in net.
 
SSU got goals from Sara Studer (32') and Elena Catania (55').
 
Dixie State heads to Phoenix for two non-conference matches next week. The Red Storm open play with Montana State-Billings on Thursday at 6 p.m.
