SB: Red Storm Streak to 10 games, finish sweep of Dominican with 3-1 and 7-0 wins

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Wrapping up their eight game road swing, the Dixie State softball team defeated Dominican in a PacWest doubleheader today 3-1 and 7-0.
 
The Red Storm (31-10, 21-5 PWC) finished the road swing a perfect 8-0 and built their winning streak to 10 games.
 
In game one freshman Michelle Duncan (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert High School) started and pitched four innings striking out six while not allowing a hit. She walked five batters including walking in the only Dominican run in the third inning.
 
The Red Storm scored a run in the first and added two more in the fifth when junior Jaelle Judkins (Saint George, UT/Dixie High School) doubled to center field and then junior Kylee Bufton (Spanish Fork, UT/Spanish Fork High School) tripled to right center. Bufton then scored on an illegal pitch to give DSC a 3-1 lead.
 
Senior Lauren Folta (Erda. UT/Tooele High School) pitched the final three innings allowing just two hits and striking out six Dominican(3-40, 0-25 PWC) batters to earn her first career save and help Duncan improve to 4-3 on the season.
 
The managed just five hits and Bufton finished with two hits of them and the only Red Storm RBI.
 
In game two it was all the Red Storm. DSC pounded out 11 hits and scored six runs in the second inning to run away with the 7-0 win.
 
Sophomore Mattie Snow (Tooele, UT/Tooele High School) pitched her 11th complete game of the season and her third shutout to improve to 12-4 on the season. She gave up four hits while striking out nine Penguin batters.
 
Bufton added another triple in game two this time plating two Red Storm runners in the second inning.  Junior Johnna Brown added two hits and an RBI and freshman (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial )Marla Reiter# also had two hits.
 
The Red Storm plays their final home games of the season this Saturday when they host BYU-Hawaii in doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
