Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BELMONT, Calif. – The Dixie State softball team continued their winning ways by sweeping a PacWest conference doubleheader from Notre Dame de Namur 6-1 and 5-4.

The Red Storm (27-10, 17-5 PWC) has rattled off six straight wins since their heartbreaking loss to Cal State East Bay in the Tournament of Champions.

Today DSC used a great offensive performance from freshman Courtney Sherwin (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain High School) and another solid outing from senior pitcher Lauren Folta (Erda. UT/Tooele High School).

Sherwin was 2-3 in the first game with 2RBI and 3-3 in the second game with 3RBI. That included a three run go-ahead blast in the sixth inning to lead the Red Storm to victory. It was Sherwin's ninth home run of the season.

Folta pitched her tenth complete game of the season by allowing just one run on five hits and striking out two to improve to 14-3 on the season.

Trailing 1-0 in game one, the Red Storm scored four runs in the fifth inning and junior Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) hit two run home run in seventh to plate the final two Red Storm runs.

Sherwin and junior Kylee Bufto (Spanish Fork, UT/Spanish Fork High School)n each finished with two hits to lead them to the victory of the Argonauts (18-25, 6-14 PWC).

In game two with the Red Storm trailing 4-2 in the sixth, Brown reached on an NDNU error and then senior Kelsey Mendenhall (Tooele. UT/Tooele High School) reached when she was hit by a pitch. Sherwin then hit the decisive blow to give the Red Storm a 5-4 lead.

Freshman Michelle Duncan (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert High School) picked a perfect seventh inning to seal the victory. She relieved starter Mattie Snow (Tooele, UT/Tooele High School) and pitched an inning and a third to improve to 3-3 on the season.

Sherwin had three hits in game two and freshman Nicole Chavez (Chino Hills, CA/Ayala High School) delivered a 2RBI base hit in fourth to plate the other Red Storm runs.

Dixie State continues their eight game road swing with a four game series starting tomorrow at Dominican (CA) at 2:00 pm.
