OGDEN -- The Dixie State College softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader against Weber State 22-1 and 4-2 in Odgen this afternoon.

In game one the Red Storm erupted for 22 runs on 15 hits, including 11 runs in the third inning. Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ), Marla Reiter (Rolinda, CA/Central High School), Courtney Sherwin (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain High School), and Sheila Gelter (St. George, UT/Dixie High School) all hit home runs in the first game.

Brown had two hits and five RBI, along with Anna Cue (Murrieta Valley, CA/Murrieta Valley High School) who had two hits and four RBI.

Jaelle Judkins (Saint George, UT/Dixie High School) led the game off with a triple that eventually led to three DSC first inning runs. The Red Storm added six in the second, 11 in the third and two in the fifth to end the game on the 8-run rule in the fifth inning.

Coach Randy Simkins said, "Jaelle really set to tone for us in her first at bat and we really never looked back from there."

Judkins, Courtney Hine (San Dimas, CA/San Dimas High School), Brown, Courtney Sherwin (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain High School), Cue, and Kylie Bartlett (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial High School) had two hits each for the Red Storm.

In the circle Lauren Folta (Erda. UT/Tooele High School) pitched three innings allowing just three hits and improved to 5-2 on the season. Kate Pinder pitched the final two innings in relief.

For the Wildcats, Cunningham had three hits and Clarke added two in the loss.

In game two, Dixie State scored and unearned run in the 3rd inning to take a 1-0 lead and added another run in the fourth frame when Kelsey Mendenhall (Tooele. UT/Tooele High School) doubled to right field to lead off the inning and Sherwin hit an RBI single to center to give DSC a 2-0 lead.

Mattie Snow (Tooele, UT/Tooele High School) pitched four innings, allowing just one hit and striking out five batters to improve to 4-4 on the season. The win snapped her four game losing streak.

Michelle Duncan (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert High School) pitched the final three frames earning her third save of the season. She struck out four batters while allowing two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, both of which were unearned.

The Red Storm added two safety runs in the sixth inning when Brown walked and pinch runner Bailee Freeland (Ogden, UT/Bonneville High School) stole second base. Sherwin followed with an RBI double to right center giving DSC a 3-0 lead.

Sherwin followed by reaching second on a wild pitch and scored on a Cue RBI single to centerfield.

Sherwin and Kourtnie Schlacter (Mira Loma. CA/Jurupa Valley High School) both add two hits in the second game to lead the DSC seven hit attack.

Dixie State improves to 10-7 overall and Weber State drops to 7-13.

The Red Storm will have 10 days off before they welcome PacWest opponent Hawaii Pacific to Saint George for a four-game series on March 23 and 24.
