SERIES: DSC leads the series 4-1

GAME INFO:  Returning home for the first time in 18 days, the Red Storm welcome Academy of Art to the Burns Arena on Saturday night, tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Listen to the live action on the Red Storm Radio Network -- KXDS 91.3 FM -- and online via DixieAthletics.com with John Potter calling the play-by-play.

SERIES RECORD: This is the 6th meeting between the two schools and DSC holds a 4-1 all-time series advantage. Dixie State is 3-0 lifetime at the Burns Arena. Last time out AAU picked up their first series win, a 60-59 upset win on 1/3/12 in San Franscisco.

LAST TIME OUT: Trailing by 19 points at the half, DSC outscored HPU 55-33 to extend their winning streak to six games and return home with a 78-75 win and a sweep (4-0) of the Hawaiian Islands for the first time in school history. DSC hit eight three pointers in the second half and were led by Sheila Adams (Layton, UT/Layton) who scored 20 points  and tied a career high with seven steals.  Becca Thomas (Riverside, CA/Redwood) added 14 points and LaBrea Walker (North Las Vegas, NV/Desert Pines) with 11. Kirsten Maria Liana led DSC with 11 rebounds.

AROUND THE PACWEST:  With the over DSC and Academy of Art's win over Dominican, it sets up a first place battle. Both teams have a 10-2 conference record, just a half game lead over Grand Canyon and Cal Baptist in the win column. They both are at 9-2.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dixie State junior center Becca Thomas (Riverside, CA/Redwood) (Riverside, CA/Santa Clara) has been selected the latest Pacific West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Thomas led the Red Storm to a 3-0 week in Hawai'i by averaging 19.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.  She tied for second in scoring and ranked 11th in rebounding in the conference for the week.Thomas' shooting percentage also sparkled, ranking third in the PacWest for the week after making 59.5% (22 for 37) of her field goal attempts.

SCOUTING the RED STORM: Having rattled off six straight wins and winners of their nine of their last 10. The Red Storm prepare for a rematch with Academy of Art, a team that upset them in San Franciscon 60-59 in early January. During the streak, DSC has shot 43.6 percent from the field. Sheila Adams (Layton, UT/Layton) conintues to lead the Red Storm in scoring at 14.9 ppg and Becca Thomas (Riverside, CA/Redwood) adds 12.1 ppg. The leading rebounder is Shanae Vaifanua (Hurricane, UT/Hurricane) at 5.9 rpg. The DSC offense averages 72.8 ppg and connects at 40.2 percent from the field. Having made the most 3 points in the PacWest, DSC hits 32.9 percent from behind the arc.

SCOUTING ACADEMY of ART: Winners of nine in a row, the Urban Knights two conference losses are to Cal Baptist. AAU also swept the Hawaiian road trip and are led by Alisa Griggs who waverages 13.2 ppg. Jordan Rogers (11.0) and Devin London (10.5) also help AAU average 68.8 ppg. The Urban Knights shoot 37.5 percent from the field and 26.2 percent from behind the arc.
