Grand Canyon Cruises to Victory Over Red Storm Volleyball

SAINT GEORGE, UT -- Playing in their final game of the season, the Dixie State volleyball team dropped a Pacific West Conference match to Grand Canyon 25-14, 25-18, 25-14 at the Old Gym on Saturday night.

On senior night, Brita Jensen (Taylorsville, UT/Taylorsville) added 11 kills and nine digs to her already historic volleyball career. She finished her career by holding four records in the DSC record books.

But it just wasnt meant to be for the outgoiing seniors, highly touted Grand Canyon cruised to an easy victory with solid play at the nets. They were led by two players who finsihed in double figures with kills. Caelen Hiller had 16 and Janae Giles added 10. The Lopes hit an impressive .324 for the match.

For the Red Storm they were led by outside hitter Mercedes O'Neal 14 kills. She also matched the Lopes hitting percentage by hitting .324. Shelby Sorenson (Lehi, UT/Lehi) added 30 assists and Alex Anderson (Prescott, AZ/Prescott) had 14 digs in the loss.

Kimee Clegg (Saint George, UT/Dixie) also played in her final game as a member of the Red Storm squad and had four digs and two assists.

The Red Storm conclude their 2012 campaign with a 7-14 overall record and a 5-11 PacWest record. Grand Canyon improved to 23-5 overall and 11-5 in the PacWest.

Kimee Clegg
A 5-9 setter, Clegg transferred to Dixie State from Arizona Western Junior College were she was a deans honor recipient and helped guide her team to a Region Championship. For her efforts she earned the 1st Team All-Region selection and 2nd Team All-Conference Honors. At DSC, she had a match-high 56 assists against Chaminade on Oct 11, 2010. She ranks 3rd all-time in assists per set with 8.04 and 4th in assists with 844. She is a graduate of Dixie high school and her major is Business Administration. She is the daughter of Bruce and Beverly Clark of Saint George and is married to Red Storm basketball player Landon Clegg.
 
BRITA NOBLE JENSEN
 
Jensen is a 5-9 outside hitter with a vertical jump near 30 inches. She prepped at Taylorsville High School in Taylorsville, Utah where she was a multi-sport star. At Dixie State she has been a four-year starter who is 3rd all-time with 89 matches played. On Sep 22, 2011 she set a personal best with 18 kills against Hawaii Hilo. Just last week she set a DSC record with a .467 hitting percentage against Notre Dame de Namur where she had 14 kills and NO ERRORS. 
 
She ranks 1st all-time in four categories: kills with 813, attack attempts with 2931, service aces with 88, and points at 967.5. In 2010 she was named to the All-PacWest 2nd team and this year the All-PacWest Preseason team.  She also excels in the classroom where she has a 3.83 GPA and she is set to graduate with a degree in Integrated Studies. She is the daughter of David and Diana Noble and married to former DSC baseball player Justin “Judd” Jensen.
