#21 Grand Canyon Downs Red Storm in Four Games

SAINT GEORGE -- The Dixie State volleyball team lost to #21 Grand Canyon 22-25, 25-10, 25-18 and 25-9 tonight in Phoenix, Ariz in front of 146 people in the Antelope Gymnasium.

Despite stealing the first game 25-22 behind the solid play of outisde hitter Mercedes O'Neal, the Red Storm (6-11, 4-8 PWC) couldn't find and answer for the Antelopes (19-4, 7-4 PWC).

O'Neal led Dixie State with 14 kills and Shannon Young (Whittier, CA/St Paul) had eight kills in the loss. Shelby Sorenson (Lehi, UT/Lehi) had 19 assists and senior setter Kimee Clegg (Saint George, UT/Dixie) added 11 assists.

Kaitlynn Ausmus had a match-high 17 kills to lead three Antelope hitters who finished with double figure kills.

Grand Canyon hit .293 to Dixie State .097 in the match and won the battle of the nets by outblocking DSC 8-6.

The Red Storm travel for their final road game of the season on Oct. 27 to Azusa Pacific University. First serve for the match is scheduled for 4 pm mountain time.
