Dixie State College starts its second go-through in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Oct. 13, at Western Oregon. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. Pacific (2 p.m. Mountain) as the Red Storm look for its first victory at McArthur Field in Monmouth.

•     It was a game of firsts for DSC last Saturday. The Storm defeated Central Washington for the first time in nine all-time meetings, 29-21. It was the first time Dixie State had eclipsed the 500-yard total offense barrier since 2006. At no other point had two quarterbacks thrown for over 200 yards in the same game – Kaleo Nawahine (Fruitland, ID/Fruitland) (233) and Griff Robles (Spanish Fork, UT/Spanish Fork) (244).
•     DSC also set a single-game record with 478 passing yards – 55 yards better than an Oct. 29, 2011 game at this week's locale, Western Oregon.
•     The Red Storm are 2-9 all-time against the Wolves; but Dixie State did force six turnovers and held the Wolves to 239 yards of offense to defeat WOU 24-10 on Sept. 8 at Hansen Stadium. A.J. Johnson (Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills) ran for 119 yards pacing the DSC offense.
•    Western Oregon enters their Homecoming game off an impressive 42-14 win last week at Humboldt State. The Wolves have won three straight since opening the year 0-3.

HASLEM EARNS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD: Austin Haslem, Dixie State (K, 5-9, 170, Fr., Philomath, OR) averaged 55 yards on kickoffs and also scored five points, kicking two extra points and a 27-yard field goal as the Red Storm beat first-place Central Washington 29-21 to win the GNAC Red Lion Special Teams Player of the Week Award

STORM WATCH: Dixie State jumped a spot in the total defense after allowing just 297 yards to Cental Washington. An average of 342.2 yards a game places the Red Strom second in the GNAC behind Humboldt State. On the offensive side, DSC sits fourth in the league with 378.5 yards a contest and fourth scoring 21.2 points per game.
