SERIES RECORD: This is the 13th meeting between the two schools and Dixie State leads the all time series 8-2. Last time out, the Red Storm defeated UHH 81-43 in Hilo, Hawaii on 3/5/11. DSC has won four straight against the Vulcans and remain unbeaten at home (5-0).

LAST TIME OUT: Junior guard Erica Hayes (East Palo Alto, CA/Menlo-Atherton) tied a career-high with 27 points and added 10 rebounds, earning her first career double-double, leading Dixie State College to an 80-71 Pacific West Conference victory over Hawaii Pacific University on Saturday. A strong defensive performance in the second half helped propel the Red Storm on two different runs. The first came with the game tied at 44, a layup by Shanae Vaifanua (Hurricane, UT/Hurricane) capped a 10-3 run to build a seven point lead with 10:33 left in the game. The second run game just two minutes later leading 55-50, another layup by Vaifanua capped a 13-0 run and gave the Red Storm its largest lead of 16 points. A career high seven assists for Hayes helped propel the Red Storm to victory. Vaifanua finished 13 points and nine rebounds and Adams chipped in 14 rebounds.

A MILESTONE: Coach Angie Kristensen reached a major milestone with her “100th” win while on the bench at Dixie State. In her six years at DSC, her record is 100-50 (.667) and a 171-110 (.609) overall in 10 years as a coach.

AROUND THE PACWEST: Despite being tripped up last week by HPU, Cal Baptist remains a half game ahead of GCU in the PacWest standings. Academy of Art improved to 7-2 in conference with win over Chaminade tonight and remain a game ahead of the Red Storm.

SCOUTING the RED STORM:  What a magical performance (27 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists) from Erica Hayes (East Palo Alto, CA/Menlo-Atherton), setting career highs in points, assists and earning her first double-double in Saturday nights win over Hawaii Pacific. The Red Storm continue to average 72.5 points per game and when they score 70 points or more they are a perfect 10-0.  DSC shoots 38.9 percent from the field and 31.5 from behind the arc. DSC has a league best 98 made three pointers.

SCOUTING HAWAII HILO: Tonights opponent Hawaii Hilo has lost three of their last four after rattling off six straight wins. The Vulcans average just 53.3 ppg and shoot 34.5 percent from the field. Turnovers seem to be the achilles heel for UHH, committing 18.7 a game. Hillary Hurley, who is also an All-PacWest Conference leader, leads the team in scoring with 13.7 ppg and grabbing 9.6 rpg.
