POMONA, Calif. (September 3, 2011) – The Dixie State College volleyball team lost their morning match with San Francisco State 3-0 (23-25, 20-25, 16-25) and bounced back this evening with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-21) sweep of Anderson University (SC).

In the evening match with Anderson, the Red Storm (2-2) were led by senior Morgan Hill (Logan. UT/Logan) 15 kills and five block assists and junior Brita Jensen (Taylorsville, UT/Taylorsville) 13 kills. Freshman setter Jen Hardman (American Fork, UT/American Fork) had 41 assists and senior libero Jayci Jeffress (Brighton. CO/Brighton) finished with 15 digs.

Dixie State dominated the match by forcing AU to hit .091. Dixie State committed only 12 errors and hit .419 while adding seven team blocks.

In the earlier match against San Francisco State, Dixie State battled in the first two sets before succumbing to the Gators in the final frame.

Hill had 12 kills and no errors, while adding five block assists. Senior Alex Shearer (Park City. UT/Park City) had 10 digs to lead the Red Storm and Hardman added 28 assists.

The Red Storm finished the two-day tournament with two wins and two loses and will travel next week to the Holiday Inn Crossroads Classic hosted by Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, CO.
