Davis, Jensen Net Goals in Storm Win

Dixie state evens record with 2-1 win

Box Score Box Score: DSC 2, NESU 1

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. –
Two first half goals were enough Saturday as the Dixie State women's soccer team defeated Northeastern State (OK) 2-1 in a non-conference tilt played on the campus of Cal State San Bernardino.

The Red Storm (1-1) outshot the Riverhawks 23 to eight during the match and controlled the tempo for most of the match.

“We did a great job possessing the ball and attacking the goal,” said head coach Linda Huddleston.

Whitley Davis (Sandy, UT/Brighton) ripped the net from 25 yards out in the 10th minute and Camille Jensen (North Logan, UT/Sky View) blasted a shot from inside 20 yard in the 23rd minute to give DSC a 2-0 lead at the break.

Northeastern (0-2) pulled within one with an open shot from Rachel Sordahl 15 minutes into the second half.

The win in goal went to April Beck (American Fork, UT/American Fork) after she pitched a shutout in the first half. Abby Johnson (Escondido, CA/Mission Hills) made six saves in the second period.

Dixie State travels to Grand Junction next Thursday for a non-league match with Colorado Mesa beginning at 7 p.m.
