VB: Red Storm Outdueled by BYU-Hawaii

SAINT GEORGE, Utah- The Dixie State College volleyball team dropped a Pacific West Conference match tonight to BYU-Hawaii 26-28, 25-20, 14-25, 20-25 inside the Student Activities Center.
 
The Red Storm dropped to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the PacWest and BYU-Hawaii improved to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in the PacWest.
 
In a thrilling game one, Dixie State had a 24-21 and serving for set point. DSC could not convert and then saw the Seasiders Lauren Hagemeyer convert five of the last six points to win 28-26. Hagemeyer finished with a match-high 19 kills and hit for a solid .375.
 
The Red Storm would rebound by winning the second set 25-20. Morgan Hill (Logan. UT/Logan) earned five kills in the second set and finished with 10 kills in the match.
 
BYU-Hawaii would out block the Red Storm 11 to 4 on the night and really dominated the net. DSC finished the match hitting .182 and the Seasiders hit .253.
 
Defensively, libero Losaline Pula had 32 digs for BYU-Hawaii and Brita Jensen (Taylorsville, UT/Taylorsville) had 31 digs to lead to her nine kills for DSC. Alex Shearer (Park City. UT/Park City) led Dixie State with 17 kills.
 
Dixie State will now embark on a five match road trip to the San Francisco Bay Area next week. They are scheduled to play five matches in six days against Academy of Art, Notre Dame de Namur and Dominican.
