SB: Pitchers Dominate and Lead Red Storm to Three Wins at Tournament of Champions

-Three impressive pitching performances today led Dixie State College to a 12-1 win over Humboldt State, a 4-0 win over Northwest Nazarene and a 4-0 shutout win over Cal State Dominguez Hills at the Mizuno Tournament of Champions.

In game one against Humboldt State this morning, Lauren Folta (Erda. UT/Tooele High School) improved to 6-4 by allowing only one run on three hits and striking out two.

Ashley McFarland (Layton. UT/Layton High School), Anna Cue (Murrieta Valley, CA/Murrieta Valley High School) and Ryanne Dacosin (Kaneohe, HI/Castle High School) had two hits each in the win. Kelsey Mendenhall (Tooele. UT/Tooele High School) and Cue each hit home runs.

Freshman Mattie Snow (Tooele, UT/Tooele High School) threw complete game two hit shutout to lead the Red Storm (15-5) to a 4-0 blanking of Northwest Nazarene. She improved to 2-0 on the season.

Dacosin and Egge led the DSC attack with two hits a each.

In the final game of the day, Dixie State rode the shoulders of Brittnie Miller (Moab. UT/Grand High School). Miller allowed only three hits and struck three in a complete game shutout to improve to 7-1.

Jaelle Judkins (Saint George, UT/Dixie High School) hit a two run triple in the fifth inning to help build on the Red Storm lead. She finished with two hits on the day. McFarland added two hits and two RBI as well.

Dixie State will try and stay perfect tomorrow and advance to the Gold Bracket on Sunday. The Red Storm take on Sonoma State at 12:45 PM and San Francisco State at 3:00 PM. Live stats are available via DixieAtheltics.com.
