SAINT GEORGE, UT-The Dixie State College softball team swept a doubleheader from Grand Canyon University 12-4 and 15-5. The games were played today at Karl Brooks Field.

With the victory the Red Storm (25-10, 15-3 PWC) move into a first place tie with Hawaii-Hilo in the PacWest Conference race.

In game one, Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) was 4-4 with three RBI and Anna Cue (Murrieta Valley, CA/Murrieta Valley High School) hit a two-run home run in the 1st inning and finished by going 3-5 with four RBI. Breanna Egge (Las Vegas. NV/Centennial High School) also was 3-4 with 2RBI to lead the balanced DSC attack. The Red Storm offense pounded out sixteen hits and scored 13 runs in the run shortened six-inning affair.

Brittnie Miller (Moab. UT/Grand High School) had five strikeouts and allowed four hits in a complete game to improve to 10-3 on the season.

In game two it was all the Red Storm scoring five runs in the second and six runs in the fifth inning to win 15-5 in five innings.

Jaelle Judkins (Saint George, UT/Dixie High School) pounded out three hits and had three RBI, while Egge, Cue, Ryanne Dacosin (Kaneohe, HI/Castle High School) and Kourtnie Schlacter (Mira Loma. CA/Jurupa Valley High School) each had two hits and two RBI.

Lauren Folta (Erda. UT/Tooele High School) pitched a complete game allowing just one earned run of the five runs the Antelopes (17-20, 9-9 PWC) scored. She struck out three batters to improve to 12-5 on the season.

The Red Storm and the Antelopes will do battle again tomorrow afternoon at Karl Brooks Field beginning at 12:00 PM. It will be the last home game for seniors Brittnie Miller (Moab. UT/Grand High School), Breanna Egge (Las Vegas. NV/Centennial High School), Cassie Merrill and Ashley McFarland (Layton. UT/Layton High School). They will be honored prior to the game.
