SB: Red Storm Swept on Final Day of Desert Stinger Tournament

-The Dixie State College softball team finished the Desert Stinger Tourament in Las Vegas, NV by losing their opener today to Western Washington 8-1 and the nightcap to Western Oregon 6-1.

The Red Storm (2-3) bats fell silent on Sunday afternoon managing only two runs on four hits on the day. In the nightcap, Western Oregon(3-2) pitcher Jessica Wood no hit DSC five complete innings before Ashley McFarland (Layton. UT/Layton High School) doubled into the right center field gap. She would later score on a sacrifice fly by Breann Egge.

Against Western Washington (5-0), Viking pitcher Erika Wood struck out eight Red Storm batters and allowed just two hits.

Red Storm starter Brittnie Miller (Moab. UT/Grand High School) gave up six runs on six hits in the top of the first inning and freshman Mattie Snow (Tooele, UT/Tooele High School) relieved her allowing just two runs in six innings of work. The Red Storm bats just could not recover from the early deficit.

Dixie State will have a two weeks off before hosting Southern Utah University in a doubleheader on February 26th at 12:00 PM at Karl Brooks Field.
