Volleyball drops final game of the season to Grand Canyon

PHOENIX, Ariz.
– Dixie State College women's volleyball dropped their final game of the season to Grand Canyon tonight 3-1, 27-25, 15-25, 21-25, 19-25.
 
Seniors Alex Shearer (Park City. UT/Park City), Morgan Hill (Logan. UT/Logan), Jayci Jeffress (Brighton. CO/Brighton), and Lynzee Crosland (Kemmerer, WY/) all were playing in their final collegiate match. Shearer had a team-high 11 kills and 11 digs, Hill picked up a block assist and added five kills, Jeffress had a match-high 24 digs, and Crosland added seven kills and two service aces.
 
The Red Storm trailed 16-8 midway thru the first set and battled back to win the set 27-25. Grand Canyon would make light work of the Red Storm in the final three sets to win the match.
 
The Antelopes were led by Caelen Hiller's 20 kills and Stephanie McBride chipped in 14 more kills. GCU hit .190 on the night and used a strong showing up front with eight team blocks.
 
Sophomore Outside hitter Shannon Young (Whittier, CA/St Paul) added eight kills for the Red Storm and freshman setter Jen Hardman (American Fork, UT/American Fork) had 36 set assists. Tonight was the DSC's fifth consecutive loss. They played without junior outside hitter Brita Jensen (Taylorsville, UT/Taylorsville) for the second third straight match.
 
Coach Darice Pratt said, “We played hard all year long and made a lot of improvements as a team. I look forward to the future of Dixie State Volleyball.”
 
Grand Canyon improved to 22-6 overall and 12-4 in the PacWest and Dixie State concludes their season with a 13-11 overall record and 8-8 in the PacWest.
