Morgan punt return makes history in DSC loss at Central Washington

Return TD is first in Storm D-II history

ELLENSBURG, WASH. – Dixie State safety Cache Morgan (West Jordan, UT/West Jordan) returned a fourth quarter punt 80 yards for a touchdown – the first ever punt return for a score in DSC's NCAA tenure, yet running backs Levi Taylor and Ishmail Stinson each amassed more than 125 yards on the ground leading the host Central Washington Wildcats to a 42-14 victory over DSC in the final contest of the 2011 football season.
 
The Red Storm finished the season at 1-10 overall and 1-7 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Central Washington improved its record to 4-6 overall and 4-4 in the league.
 
Central took an early two-touchdown lead. Dominique Gaisie's 67-yard yard punt return energized the Tomlinson crowd. On the subsequent drive, Mohler hit one of his favorite targets, Justin Helwege, for a 20-yard TD. The Wildcats dominated the line of scrimmage by outgaining DSC in total yardage 177 to 11 in the first quarter.
 
Levi Taylor bolstered the CWU lead to 28-0 at the half with a two-yard scamper on the opening play of the second quarter and his second score (three yards) in the final minute of the half. The back topped the century mark accumulating 124 yards on 28 carries before the break.
 
Dixie State was held to only 68 yards of total offense in the first half. The marquee moment came via a Morgan interception and return.
 
Central Washington continued its solid play in the third quarter and pushed the lead to 35-0 nothing as Mohler connected with Helwege for a second score.
 
Stinson joined Taylor with over 100 yards rushing and added a touchdown rush early in the fourth quarter.
 
Down 42-0, Morgan etched his name into the record book returning a punt 80 yards into the house. Later in the quarter, reserve QB Kaleo Nawahine (Fruitland, ID/Fruitland) capped a solid drive with a TD pass to senior Darren Carter (Sandy, UT/Jordan) from 5 yards.
 
Stefan Cantwell (South Jordan, UT/Bingham) went 17-of-36 for 158 yards and a pair of interceptions. Joe Don Duncan (Corona, CA/Notre Dame) made eight grabs for 75 yards, snapping his five-game streak of over 100 yards receiving. Dustin Goza (Roy, UT/Roy) led the defense with eight tackles while Morgan, Chris Spencer (Las Vegas, NV/Cheyenne) and Skyler Fullmer (Riverton, UT/Riverton) each added seven stops.
 
CWU quarterback Jose Mohler only threw for 73 yards while the Wildcats focused its attack on the ground amassing 283 rush yards.
