Brita Jensen and Morgan Hill lead Red Storm to Victory over Academy of Art

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.
– A match-high 13 kills from junior outside hitter Brita Jensen (Taylorsville, UT/Taylorsville) and 11 kills from senior middle blocker Morgan Hill (Logan. UT/Logan) led the Dixie State College volleyball team to a 25-16, 25-10, 21-25, 25-16 win over Academy of Art University in the famous Kezar Pavilion.
 
Improving to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the PacWest the Red Storm hit .366 on the night and committed only 8 errors in the four-game match.
 
Coach Darice Pratt said, “We played as a team tonight. Everyone contributed intensity and played their part.”
 
Eight of the 11 Dixie State players had kills and senior outside hitter Jessica Hunt (Enterprise. UT/Enterprise) sparked the team with eight kills off the bench.
 
Senior libero Jayci Jeffress (Brighton. CO/Brighton) collected five service aces and scampered to collect 15 digs to lead a stellar defensive night.
 
“Jayci was a huge asset and almost knocked herself out in pursuit of a ball,” Pratt concluded.
 
The Urban Knights were led by Mykal Vailu'u who had 12 kills and 18 digs. AAU drops to 5-8 overall and 2-1 in PacWest play.
 
Dixie State continues their five game road swing with a second match against Academy of Art tomorrow night in San Francisco. First serve is set for 8:00 PM mountain time.
