WSOC: Red Storm Draw with Notre Dame de Namur

Box Score

SAINT GEORGE, Utah -- The Dixie State College women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with Notre Dame de Namur tonight at Hansen Stadium.

The story tonight was the play of both goalies that forced a double overtime scoreless match. For Dixie State, April Beck (American Fork, UT/American Fork) had six saves and earned her second shutout of the season. For the Argonauts, Kelsey Baxter collected four saves and picked up her second shutout as well.

The game was evenly played in almost every statistical category. NDNU had more fouls at 15-13, shots at 10-9 and each team had a yellow card.

The Red Storm had two great oppurtunities to put the match away. The first came just 42 seconds into the second overtime when the NDNU keeper left her box and raced to the near sideline to try and run down a lead pass to Red Storm forward Mindy Beckstrom.  Beckstrom streaked to beat her to the ball and kicked it just past her from 40 yards away, but it ended up just wide left.

The second chance came at 109:11 off a when DSC forward Camille Jensen (North Logan, UT/Sky View) perfectly placed corner kick was headed by Jennifer Mason (Springville, UT/Springville), but the attempt hit the crossbar and
richocheted away from the goal.

Dixie State now is 7-7-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the PacWest with Notre Dame de Namur at 5-7-3 overall and 4-2-3 in the PacWest.

The same two teams do battle again on Saturday evening at 4:30 p.m. at Dixie High School's Flyer Field.
