VB: Hawaii Pacific upends Dixie State

SAINT GEORGE, Utah – The Hawaii Pacific volleyball team used three players with double digit kills to upend the Dixie State College volleyball team 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15).
 
Sanoe Recca led the Sea Warriors with a match-high 20 kills, Haley Doerfier had 17 kills and Natasha Bell added 13 in the four set match.
 
 Returning tonight was freshman setter Jen Hardman (American Fork, UT/American Fork), who was injured on Friday and did not play in last night's match. The Red Storm ran a 6-2 offense to try and minimize her playing time.
 
Alex Shearer (Park City. UT/Park City) had 10 kills to lead DSC and Morgan Hill (Logan. UT/Logan) added 8, while Lynzee Crosland (Kemmerer, WY/) added 7 kills.
 
Despite earning 11 team blocks at the net, the Red Storm could not find an answer for the HPU hitters.
 
Coach Darice Pratt said, “We played a little flat tonight, we need to rebound and get ready for Cal Baptist on Friday.”
 
Kyra Pelayo was stellar on defense for HPU, picking up 38 digs and Pihana Kea had 54 assists.
 
For the Red Storm Jayci Jeffress (Brighton. CO/Brighton) had 23 digs and Hardman added 19 assists.
 
Dixie State dropped to 13-8 overall and 8-5 in PacWest play and HPU improved to 13-8 overall and 8-4 in PacWest play.
 
The Red Storm will travel to Riverside, Calif. on Friday for a PacWest match with Cal Baptist.
