Three goals in second half nets Dixie State win

DSC women close out Hawaii trip with a 3-1 record

Box Score

HONOLULU, Hawaii – A halftime deficit did not deter the Dixie State College women's soccer team Saturday against Chaminade. Three goals over a 20-minute span helped the Red Storm to a 3-1 Pacific West Conference win.

Dixie State completed a four-match road trip with a 3-1 record to get back to the break-even mark at 7-7 (5-3 in the Pac West). Chaminade dropped to 1-13 overall and 1-8 in league.

Early in the second half, Jennifer Mason (Springville, UT/Springville) scored off a corner kick from Kimberly Thurmond to equalize a Silversword first half penalty kick goal.

Alayna Canada (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial) netted the game-winner with an unassisted goal in the 55th minute.

The Storm added insurance 14 minutes later as Camille Jensen (North Logan, UT/Sky View) cashed in a PK.

Abby Johnson (Escondido, CA/Mission Hills) made two saves in the second half to earn the win. April Beck (American Fork, UT/American Fork) also saved a pair of shots on goal playing in the first half.

Dixie State dominated the shot count, 28-5.

After a solid Hawaiian trip, the Storm return home Thursday at 4:30 p.m. for a conference match against Notre Dame de Namur at Hansen Stadium.
