BELMONT, California-January 22, 2011-Four Dixie State players scored in double figures to lead the #13-ranked women's basketball team to a 88-53 blowout of Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday afternoon in the Walter Gleason Gymnasium.
The Red Storm (14-1, 4-0 PacWest) had a 1-4 record against the Argonauts on the road.
Sheila Adams (Layton, UT/Layton) was 9-12 from the field and connected on 4 of 6 from the three point range to score a game-high 24 points.
Leading 43-35 at the half, DSC outscored NDNU 45-18 in the second half to secure the much-needed victory on the road. The Red Storm concluded their San Francisco Bay Area road swing going 3-0.
The Red Storm defense forced 27 turnovers and had 15 steals.
Breann Hill (Harrisburg, PA/McDevitt) had six and Adams added five.
Erica Carlson (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro HS) earned a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. She also added four blocked shots in the game. Hill was a perfect 10-10 from the foul line to add to her 20 points and
Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) scored 18 points to round out the scoring for the Red Storm.
Notre Dame de Namur (6-9, 3-3 PacWest) took an early 2-1 look and managed to cut the Red Storm first half lead to eight points, but could not get past the hot shooting of Dixie State. Dixie State shot 49.1 percent from the field, 46.7 percent from behind the arc, and 80.6 percent from the foul line.
Katie Zasly scored a team-high 15 points and her sister Laura added 12 points. Pilar Mullins added a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. NDNU shot 39.2 percent from the field and lost the rebounding battle 37-31.
The Red Storm return home for two games next week, Thursday against BYU-Hawaii and Saturday against Chaminade.
