GAME NOTES

TODAY'S GAME -The #13-ranked Dixie State College of Utah women's basketball team conclude their San Francisco Bay Area road trip with a game at the Argonauts of Notre Dame de namur. The two are scheduled for a travel day tip-off at 1:00 PM MT inside the Walter Gleasen Gymnasium in Belmont, CA.

THE RECORDS-Meeting for the first time in the 2010-11 campaign, The Red Storm are 13-1 overall and 3-0 in the PacWest. Notre Dame de Namur is 6-8 overall and 3-2 in the PacWest. DSC won the last meeting 88-77 in Saint George on 1/25/10. The Red Storm dropped the last game in Belmont 64-61 on 1/14/10. In fact, the Red Storm are 1-4 in Walter Gleason Gym and have only won a 89-77 non-conference game on 02/28/09. The overall series is tied, with each team winning 5 apiece.

ROAD TRIP: Dixie State is on a three game road swing to the San Francisco Bay Area. Having already defeated Academy of Art 76-50 on Monday night and a 76-49 win over Dominican on Thursday, Dixie State will face its toughest test on Saturday at Notre Dame de Namur. Dixie State went 2-1 on this same road swing last year.

RED STORM WATCH - The Red Storm are coming off a 76-49 win over Dominican on Thursday night and will look to build on their five game win streak. This will be the toughest test of the road trip, having won only one game in five tries at Notre Dame de Namur. If DSC had not stubbed their toes in the past two seasons against the Argonauts, they would have secured a place in the postseason. Coach Angie Kristensen will have this years squad ready to play. Shooting over 45 percent on the year, DSC looks to have an advantage if they can shoot the ball well. For Dixie State to be successful they will need to shoot the ball well and minimize their turnovers. Turnovers can be costly and if they want to be successful they need to minimize them. Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) scored 20 points (16.3 avg) on Thursday and has scored in double figures in all but two games this season. Breann Hill (Harrisburg, PA/McDevitt) continues to be a model of consistency, averaging 14.8 ppg, shooting 56 percent from the field and 84.4 percent from the free throw line. Sheila Adams (Layton, UT/Layton) is the third cog in the wheel, averaging 12.1 ppg and has been shooting the ball better as of late. Once again Erica Carlson (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro HS) added three blocks against the Penguins and averages 3.4 blocks per game and is ranked 3rd in the nation in that category. As of team DSC is 4th in the nation at 5.8 blocks per game. DSC is also the 18th ranked scoring offense in the nation, averaging 76.8 per game.

SCOUTING NOTRE DAME DE NAMUR - As the Zasly twins go so does Notre Dame de Namur. Laura is averaging 16.4 ppg and Katie is averaging 14.9 ppg. The only player who statistically seems to pose a threat is Emily Vore at 9.8 ppg. The Argonauts have lost two games in a row, most recently to #12 Grand Canyon 51-74 on Jan. 18th. They are 5-5 in their last ten and managed to tackle the Hawaii road trip at 3-1. Losing only to Hawaii Pacific. They commit 18.4 turnover per game and tend to rebound the ball well. As a team they shoot 29.7 percent from behind the arc and 38.0 percent from the field. Notre Dame de Namur scores 61.1 points per game and gives up 63.3 points per game.
