Red Storm drop two matches in tournament in Colorado

GUNNISON, CO- The Dixie State College Volleyball team lost two matches on the opening day of the tournament being hosted by Western State College this weekend.

The Red Storm lost their morning match to Colorado State University-Pueblo 19-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-16 and 16-14. The five game match featured Alex Shearer (Park City. UT/Park City) collecting 11 kills and Morgan Hill (Logan. UT/Logan) adding 10. Setter Kimee Clark collected 34 assists in the match. The Red Storm trailed 14-10 in the final game and rallied to force a 14-14 tie, before CSUPB put the match away with a kill and a service ace.

In the evening match, DSC (3-3) rolled over losing in straight sets (25-17, 25-22, 25-12) to host Western State College. The Red Storm on managed to hit .074 for the match. DSC committed 19 attack errors and 6 service errors.

Coach Gregg Jensen said, "We just could not get anything going tonight. Every change I was making did have an effect. We have tomorrow to rebound and make some adjustments."

Dixie State will play the same two teams tomorrow afternoon before making the long trip home.
