Box Score 2 SAN RAFAEL, CA-The Dixie State College softball team defeated Dominican University today in a PacWest Conference doubleheader 21-0 and 13-0.
The Red Storm (30-11, 19-5 PWC) pounded out 26 hits and scored 34 runs in the two games and got two pitching gems from Brittnie Whipple and
Lauren Folta (Erda. UT/Tooele High School).
Brittnie Whipple pitched a run-rule shortened five inning no-hitter in the second game, her second no-hitter of the year, while striking out eight Penguin hitters.
Lauren Folta (Erda. UT/Tooele High School) allowed on three hits while striking out seven in her run-rule shortened game.
Leading the Red Storm offense was
Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial )'s 12 RBI on the day. Brown clubbed three hits in the first game and two in the second and finished 5-8 with a home run a
nd a triple.
Other stellar performances for the Red Storm were
Shantae Hunter (Idaho Falls. ID/Idaho Falls High School)'s and Cassie Merrill's five hits and
Anna Cue (Murrieta Valley, CA/Murrieta Valley High School)'s four hits.
Dixie State will finish the four game series tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 PM MT tomorrow. After a day off on Friday the Red Storm will travel to the Academy of Art in the final PacWest series of the year.
