Brown scores 22 as Red Storm use second half surge to defeat Academy of Art

SAINT GEORGE, UT-Freshman Forward Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Dixie State College Red Storm defeated Academy of Art University 84-67 inside the Burns Arena on Saturday afternoon.
 
Trailing at the half 37-36, the Red Storm (15-8, 11-3 PWC) forced 15 Urban Knight (8-17, 4-10 PWC) second half turnovers and converted them into 26 points. Dixie State outscored AAU 48-30 in the second half.
 
Deanna Daniels (North Las Vegas, NV/Centennial) scored 10 of her 16 points in the second half and added nine rebounds helping pace the 2nd half Red Storm surge. Dixie State shot 29 percent in the first half and 44.7 percent in the 2nd. Dixie State career steals leader Tanya Clark (Beaumont. CA/Beaumont) added 3 steals to her 9 points and 12 rebounds.
 
For the Urban Knights, four players finished in double figures with guard Sondra Stilwell leading the way with 14 points.
 
DSC won the rebounding battle 53-42 and had 19 steals as a team.
 
Dixie State will conclude their season this next week by hosting University of Hawaii-Hilo on Thursday evening and the final game will be Saturday afternoon with Hawaii Pacific University.
