Women's Basketball drops final game of road trip to Hawaii Pacific

Ingraham scores 21 points in loss

HONOLULU, HI-The Dixie State College women's basketball concluded its four game and seven day road trip to the Hawaiian Islands by taking on Hawaii Pacific University who is in first place in the PacWest Conference standings. The Red Storm was defeated 91-78.

 

Having won its previous three games and four of the last five games, Dixie State (13-8, 9-3) met its match in today's game. The Sea Warriors shot 59.7 percent from the floor and had five players in double figures to maintain its lead in the conference standings.

 

Hawaii Pacific (15-5, 11-1) went on a 10-4 run in the last 2:36 of the first half to take a 48-40 lead at the break.

 

In the second half senior point guard Jessie Ingraham (Tuscon. AZ/Canyon Del Oro) would hit a three pointer with 10:08 left cut the Sea Warrior lead to four points at 67-63. But, that's as close as the Red Storm would get, with HPU outscoring DSC 19-8 to closeout the game.

 

Dixie State was led by Ingraham's 21 points and Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) would add 16 points and 9 rebounds. Deanna Daniels (North Las Vegas, NV/Centennial) would also pitch in 13 points. The Red Storm would finish shooting 37 percent from the floor.

 

Leading the way for the Sea Warriors was Courtney Buster with 25 points and 13 rebounds and Jazzmin Awa-Williams 18 points.

 

Dixie State will return home for its final four games of the season. The Red Storm will play host to Dominican University on Thursday night Feb 25th at 5:30 PM.
