Red Storm run over BYU-Hawaii 96-74

Five players score in double figures

LAIE, HI-Freshman forward Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) scored 21 points in a Dixie State College women's basketball 96-74 route of Brigham Young University-Hawaii tonight inside the George Q. Cannon Activities Center.
 
Dixie State (13-7, 9-2 PACWEST) shot a season best 59 percent from the field, scored a season best 96 points and had five players in double figures. Besides Brown's 21 points, Deanna Daniels (North Las Vegas, NV/Centennial) scored 18 points, Jessie Ingraham (Tuscon. AZ/Canyon Del Oro) had 15 and Amber Scruggs (Los Angeles, CA/Narbonne) and Shanae Vaifanua (Hurricane, UT/Hurricane) added 10 points.
 
The Red Storm led from the onset of the game, building a lead by as many as 33 points. DSC forced 18 turnovers and converted those in 25 points. They also won the rebounding war 36-31.
 
The Seasiders (8-13, 4-7 PACWEST) shot 44.6 percent from the field and Richelle Fenenbock scored 17 points with Dara Tompkison adding 13 points.
 
For the first time since playing in the PacWest, Dixie State has the chance to run the table on the Island trip. With it's most difficult test coming on Saturday afternoon against first place Hawaii Pacific, the Red Storm can control their own destiny at winning a conference title.
