Red Storm blanked by Colorado Mines

LAS VEGAS, NV-Dixie State College met its match today in the first game of the Desert Stinger in Las Vegas. Colorado School of Mines outpaced the Red Storm 10-0 in a run-rule shortened game.

Strarting pitcher Brittnie Whipple who was making her second start and coming off a no hitter against Chadron State was not sharp this morning. In her six innings of work she allowed 12 hits, 10 runs, 7 earned, walked three people and struck out six.

The offense of the Red Storm struggled for the second straight game, collecting only seven hits, with three of those coming in the last two innings.  Breanna Egge (Las Vegas. NV/Centennial High School) had two hits for the Red Storm.

Leading the pace for Mines was Kaleigh Starr with three hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Libby Balogh pitched six complete, striking out four to get the victory.

Dixie State concludes the tournament  with a game against host school Montana State Billings at 4:00 PM today.
