Whipple throws NO HITTER in Red Storm win over Chadron State

Strikes out 8 in 7 inning complete game

Box Score LAS VEGAS, NV-In day two for Desert Stinger Tournament, junior Brittnie Whipple threw a 7 inning complete game NO HITTER in 6-0 defeat over Chadron State University (NE). Whipple faced 24 batters in the game, allowing two walks and one Chadron State player to reach base in the seventh on an error.

She struck out eight batters as well. Some great golve work from Ashley McFarland (Layton. UT/Layton High School) in the fourth when leadoff hitter Melissa Lohr lined a ball that looked to be headed just over the glove of McFarland into left center field. McFarland leaped and clipped the ball enough to send it straight into the air and she trapped it against her chest as she fell to the ground.

Offensively for the Red Storm Kylee Higgins (Layton. UT/Layton High School) and McFarland each added RBI doubles and Anna Cue (Murrieta Valley, CA/Murrieta Valley High School) and Bailie Hicken (Cedar Hills. UT/Lone Peak High School) continued their torrent pace by collecting two hits a piece.

Dixie State plays Fort Lewis College at 2:00 PM PST today.
