GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado- November 27, 2010-
Sheila Adams (Layton, UT/Layton) connected on six three pointers and scored a season-high 27 points to lead the Dixie State College women's basketball team to a 77-69 win over Mesa State College in the 2010 Clarion Inn Thanksgiving Classic.

The Red Storm improves for the first time in D2 history to start a season at 5-0. Despite only shooting 42.6 percent from the field, the Red Storm only had 15 turnovers and forced Mesa State College into 22. DSC was converted the turnovers into 30 points.

Dixie State had a 36-27 lead at the half and lead by as many as 14 points when Chanel Maxey (Anaheim, CA/Canyon) (9 points, 5 rebounds) hit a three-pointer with 10:47 left in the first half. Mesa State would follow with 8-2 run to cut into the DSC lead with 5:12 left.

The Mavericks (3-1) would open the 2nd half on a 12-4 run and the cut into the Red Storm halftime lead. Mesa State would take its only lead of the game on layup by Katrina Selsor with 9:45 remaining. The two teams would exchange baskets over the next five minutes before Johnna Brown's layup would spark an 8-0 run to give the Red Storm a 73-63 lead with 2:22 left. Adams would make four free throws in the last 30 seconds to secure the win for Dixie State.

Three Maverick players scored in double figures, Sharaya Selsor had 19 points and her sister Katrina scored 18 points along with Kelsey Sigl.

For the Red Storm, Breann Hill (Harrisburg, PA/McDevitt) scored 16 points and Brown added 12 rebounds and chipped in nine points. Dixie State won the rebounding edge 34-31 and down low Erica Carlson (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro HS) collected three blocks.

Dixie State will now returns home for the first time this season hosting the GNAC/PACWEST Challenge Friday and Saturday in the Burns Arena. The Red Storm are slated to play Northwest Nazarene Friday at 5:00 PM and nationally ranked #6 Seattle Pacific Saturday at 3:00 PM. Grand Canyon is the fourth team in the classic and will play at 3:00 PM Friday and 1:00 PM Saturday.
