WSOC: Beckstrom and Chipman score two goal each in Dixie State 6-0 win over Chaminade

SAINT GEORGE, Utah-The Dixie State College women's soccer team concluded their 2010 home season tonight with a 6-0 drubbing of Chaminade University at Hansen Stadium.

Mindy Beckstrom scored her first of two goals in the 16th minute on pass fromErin Beeston (Edmond, OK/Edmond North) to give the Red Storm a 1-0 lead. DSC would outshoot the Silverswords 8-1 in the first half.

In the second half a barrage of Red Storm shots would attack Chaminade goalkeeper Marissa Minor. DSC would attempt 19 shots in the second half and connect five times.

Wendy Stratford (Layton, UT/Layton) would score from 30 yards out centerfield on a cross from Beeston in the 65th minute giving DSC the 2-0 lead.

Beeston would add a goal to her two assists on the night in the 65th minute by cleaning up after a Camille Peterson-Jensen shot was blocked by the Minor she then found the right corner of the goal. It was Beeston's fourth goal of the season.

Beckstrom would connect on her second goal of the match from 27 yards out in the 68th minute on an assist from Kalehua Harward (Saint George, UT/Dixie).

Just 15 seconds later in the 69th minute, Julie Chipman connected on her first of two goals on a breakaway just after play resumed after the previous goal. Dixie State would lead 5-0 at this point.

Peterson-Jensen would earn an assist in the 75th minute on a center pass at 14 yards out to Chipman who would find the back of the nets for the second time of the match giving the Red Storm a 6-0 advantage.

April Beck (American Fork, UT, American Fork) and Abby Monroe-Johnson each played a half in goal for the Red Storm.

Dixie State improves to 10-6 overall and 7-5 in the PacWest. Chaminade drops to 2-12 overall and 2-10 in the PacWest.

The Red Storm concludes their season with a road trip this weekend to the San Francisco Bay Area to play Domincan University and Academy of Art University.
