SAINT GEORGE, UT- Madisyn Fitzgerald (Mesa, AZ/Mountain View) and Morgan Hill (Logan. UT/Logan) helped the Dixie State College volleyball team break its three game losing skid by defeating Hawaii Pacific University in straight sets today 25-22, 25-22, 27-25.
Fitzgerald collected 13 kills and hit a stellar .481 committing no hitting errors in 27 attempts. Hill pounded out 11 kills of her own helping the duo lead the Red Storm attack.
Dixie State (8-6, 3-3 PacWest) jumped out to early leads in each of the three sets and was able to play solid defense behind the libero Jayci Jeffress (Brighton. CO/Brighton) and Brita Noble. Jeffress had 22 digs and Noble added 21 digs. Kimee Clark added 39 assists in the victory.
Hawaii Pacific (10-3, 4-2 PacWest) battled back in each of the three sets, but was not able to push it over the top. Natasha Bell's 13 kills led the Seawarriors in the match.
The Red Storm have Sunday off and will play four matches in five days when they play host to Chaminade University on Monday and Tuesday night's at 7:00 PM in the Student Activities Center. Both games will be broadcast video live on America One and on the internet webcast via www.dixieathletics.com.
