WSOC: Seasiders Shutout Storm 1-0

Second straight defeat puts DSC at .500 in the PWC

ST. GEORGE, UTAH (October 7) – The Dixie State College women's soccer team could not blemish the unbeaten record of the BYU-Hawaii Lady Seasiders on Thursday night at Hansen Stadium. Kim Micheletti's unassited goal in the 18th minute was enough for BYUH to defeat the Red Storm for the second consecutive match by a score of 1-0.

The Pacific West Conference leaders improved their record to 6-0-1 in league play and 7-0-2 overall.

Dixie State now finds themselves at the break-even mark in Pac West play at 4-4-0 (7-5-0 overall) and a meeting with Grand Canyon on the horizon.

The Seasiders played aggressively all night and got their score as Micheletti sprinted down the sideline. She cut in toward the box and struck the ball into the right side of the net past April Beck (American Fork, UT/American Fork).

Dixie State had their chances, especially in the second half, but Seasider goaltender Megan McCain made two spectacular saves to ensure the win. Her highlight came with 20 minutes remaining in the match – DSC's Camille Peterson-Jensen rocketed a left-footed shot toward the post. McCain laid out and stop the ball mere feet from the goal line. Another save five minutes later quelled the Storm's momentum.

The Red Storm will have to wait nine days for their next opportunity to notch a win as they host the Antelopes of GCU on Saturday, October 16 at 7:30pm.
