Beeston (#4) nets two goals in DSC win

ST. GEORGE, UTAH (October 30) Erin Beeston (Edmond, OK/Edmond North) and Wendy Stratford (Layton, UT/Layton) each scored twice as the Dixie State women's soccer team defeated visiting Chaminade University 5-1 in a Pacific West Conference matchup at Hansen Stadium on Saturday night.

Dixie State (9-6-0, 6-5-0 PWC) seized control of the match in the second minute. Kalehua Harward (Saint George, UT/Dixie) recorded her second goal of the year beating Silversword goalkeeper Marissa Minor on the left side for a 1-0 lead.

Fifteen minutes later, Stratford went unassisted down the middle of the field and stuffed a shot in the left side of the net to double the DSC cushion.

Chaminade (2-11-0, 2-9-0 PWC) closed within one off a corner kick when Whitney Williams beat April Beck (American Fork, UT/American Fork).

In the second half, the Red Storm outshot Chaminade 10-to-nothing and pulled away with two scores minutes apart. Beeston scored past Minor in the 52nd minute off a series of passes from Camille Peterson-Jensen and Mindi Beckstrom (Nibley, UT/Mountain Crest).

Beckstrom set up the next Storm goal at the 58:10 mark when Stratford went the short corner for her fourth score of the year.

In the 72nd minute, Beeston added an insurance tally off a Robin Huddleston (Saint George, UT/Dixie) deflected shot.

Beck earns the win in goal playing the first half while Abby Monroe-Johnson did not face any adversity in second half action.

Dixie State outshot the Swords 21-3 including 11-to-3 with shots on goal.

The two teams return to the pitch on Monday night at 7:30pm at Hansen Stadium. It will be Senior Night for the DSC women's soccer team.
