Volleyball swept by Hawaii-Hilo

Fitzgerald has 10 kills and Hill adds 9 kills

HILO, HI-For the second consecutive day the Dixie State College volleyball team could not overcome the play of Hawaii-Hilo, losing in straight sets 25-20, 25-20, 25-20.
 

Hawaii Hilo (16-3, 11-1 PacWest), who is currently in first-place in the PacWest, dominated the front line by collecting 11 team blocks and hitting a solid .191 for the match. Leading the way for the Vulcans was Hillary Hurley and Kawena Cubi-Otineru who each had a match-high 12 kills. Rachael Thornquist also clubbed 11 kills of her own. UHH hit .191 percentage for the match.

 

The Red Storm (12-8, 7-5 PacWest), collected nine team blocks with Madisyn Fitzgerald (Mesa, AZ/Mountain View) collect six block assists and leading the team in kills with 10. Morgan Hill (Logan. UT/Logan) chipped in her nine kills and Jayci Jeffress (Brighton. CO/Brighton) led the team with 20 digs. DSC hit a .073 percentage for the match.

 

With the loss the Red Storm dropped to 5th place in the PacWest standings and will have Thursday off before jumping islands to take BYU-Hawaii on Thursday and Friday nights on Oahu.
