Storm Front Invades Desert to Face Grand Canyon
UP NEXT: Dixie State College of Utah travels to Phoenix, AZ to face the Grand Canyon University Antelopes on Saturday, January 30 at 7:00pm Mountain.
THE RECORDS: DSC enters the game with an 12-3 record after defeating Nortre Dame de Namur 64-41 at home last Monday. The Red Storm are 5-3 away from the Burns Arena this season and currently hold a three-game road winning streak. Grand Canyon sports a 9-13 record with a three-game win streak. The Lopes defeated NDNU twice and Academy of Art in the past two weeks. GCU is 4-3 this year in the Antelope Gym.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Dixie State holds a 7-1 advantage in eight games played against Grand Canyon. The only loss came last season in a non-conference game on Jan. 23, 2009 in Phoenix, 78-64. DSC won three of the four meetings last season.

Dixie State averages 73.1 points a game shooting 46.9% FG while allowing 65.5 points to opponents.

WIN STREAK – DSC has won seven in a row for the first time since the Red Storm made the move to Division-II. It is the longest streak since an 11-game junior college stretch from June-November 2004.

MILESTONE - Andy Palmer (St. George. UT/Pine View) eclipsed 1,000 minutes in his Dixie State career playing 23 minutes against NDNU. Palmer has played 1,002 minutes in 42 games at Dixie State.

SCOUTING GRAND CANYON: Everything about the 2009-2010 GCU Antelopes is new. New head coach, new players, and a newly renovated gymnasium are the highlights of the rejuvenated program. Seven Division-I transfers, three freshman who turned down D-I scholarships and three more first-year players complete the Lopes roster. Weber State transfer T.J. Benson leads the team in scoring at 9.5 PPG, but he is followed by six other players who average six or more points a contest. Justin Wesolowski pulls down 6.2 rebounds while Gaby Ngoundjo, from Cameroon, rips 5.5 boards a game. Russ Pennell, former interim head coach at the University of Arizona, is in his first year at the helm in Phoenix. He was 21-14 at Arizona and led the Wildcats to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament last season.
