ST George, UT- Having been picked to finish 5th in the Pacific West Athletic Conference race, the Dixie State (7-3, 1--0 PACWEST) Volleyball went out tonight to take the first step in proving everyone wrong. Well, they accomplished their goal by defeating Grand Canyon University (8-3, 0-1 PACWEST) in the PACWEST season opener 26-24, 17-25, 25-17, 25-21.

Paced by 19 kills from Senior Katie Luna (Mesa. AZ, Westwood High '05, Scottsdale CC), followed by Sophomore sensation Alex Shearer (Park City. UT, Park City) with 18 kills and hit a unbelievable .475. The Red Storm defense passed the ball well enough to help the outside hitters terminate the ball. Senior setter Chelsi Dewiit added 47 assists.

Pacing the Antelopes was Calen Hiller who had a game high 22 kills.
