Box Score 2 HONOLULU, Hawaii (DSC) --
Lauren Folta (Erda. UT/Tooele High School) and Brittnie Whipple pitched solidly as Dixie State defeated Chaminade 6-2 and 3-1 in Pacific West Conference softball Tuesday.
Folta struck out eight and walked one in her time in the circle.
Kelsey Mendenhall (Tooele. UT/Tooele High School) had a home run to provide some of the offense. Whipple struck out five as she pitched a complete game as the Red Storm rebounded from Monday's doubleheader losses to Hawaii Pacific.
"Both Folta and Whipple turned in great pitching performances for us tonight," said DSC coach Beth Collett. "We came out strong with three runs in the first inning of the first game and added single runs in
the fourth, sixth and seventh.
"I think we needed to come out tough and get back on track after the losses to HPU," Collett continued. "We're a better team than we showed (Monday) and came out to prove it today. We'll be ready to take on Hilo this Thursday."
The games against Hawaii-Hilo will wrap up the eight-game trip to the Islands. The Red Storm (12-2, 21-3) will be at home March 26, 27 and 28.
