ST GEORGE. UT-In a game that featured two teams from the Southern part of Utah. Dixie State welcomed Southern Utah (2-11) to town for a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader. Dixie State (15-1) would prevail with a 12-0 victory in game one and a 10-2 victory in game two.

In game one. Senior pitcher Haley Schumers (Plain City. UT/Freemont High School) picked up the her fourth win of the year going five strong innings and only giving up one hit and striking out seven. Offensively. Schumers led the Storm with a bases clearing double in the 1st inning and a 2 run home run to left field in the 3rd inning.

Dixie State collected 13 hits in game one. Ashley McFarland (Layton. UT/Layton High School). Hicken. and Hunter had two hits a piece.

Southern Utah's lone hit came in the 4th inning on a Jenavieve Purcell single up the middle. With the loss. Thunderbird pitcher Meghan Wilson moves to 0-1.

In game two. the Red Storm continued right were they left off. adding an eight run 3rd inning that was highlighted by Dabney McIntyre (Taylorsville. UT/Taylorsville High School)'s grand slam. McIntrye collected 4 hits in the game and had five hits in the double header.

Red Storm pitcher Lauren Folta (Erda. UT/Tooele High School) kept Southern Utah at bay until the fourth inning when Darleen Fernandez doubled to to right center and Caroline Fernandez's RBI-single off the shin of Folta's shin. that was then fielded by third baseman Schumers who threw the ball in to right field and C. Fernandez was throw out at third base trying to take third base. Two run scored on the play.

Folta stayed in to complete the inning. but would later leave and turn the ball over to Brittnie Whipple. Whipple closed in relief pitching a scoreless 5th inning.Folta improved to 5-0 on the year.

Dixie State will continue their quest for a PacWest Championship this Saturday and Sunday when they play host to to doubleheaders against Notre Dame de Namur at 12:00 PM each day.
