ST. GEORGE. UT – The Dixie State Red Storm women's basketball team exacted some revenge for a loss earlier in the season to BYU Hawaii by never trailing in Friday's 81-66 victory inside the Burns Arena.



The win kept the Red Storm undefeated on their home court (9-0) this season. DSC improved its overall record to 14-9 and 7-3 within the Pacific West Conference. BYU Hawaii dropped to 11-11. 5-5 in the Pac West.



Jessie Ingraham (Tuscon. AZ/Canyon Del Oro) (Tucson/Pima CC) led the Red Storm with a season-high 21 points on 7-13 shooting including four makes from beyond the arc and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds. She added five assists and a steal in 32 minutes.



Three other DSC players reached double figures – BreAnne Haslam (Mountain Green. UT/Morgan) (Mountain Green/SLCC). in her first game back from injury. and Lindsey Chettinger (Sergeant Bluff. IA/Sergeant Bluff) (Sergeant Bluff/Morningside) each had 12 points. Shanae Vaifanua (Hurricane, UT/Hurricane) (Hurricane) had 11 points (3-8 FG. 5-8 FT).



Starting the game on a 9-0 run. the Red Storm never relinquished the lead although BYU Hawaii tied the game twice in the first twenty minutes. Dixie shot 40-percent in the half and led by six points after 20 minutes.



The Seasiders hit the first bucket of the second half. but Dixie State outscored BYU Hawaii 20-6 over the next seven minutes capped by back-to-back three pointers by Chettinger to pull ahead by 18. their biggest cushion. BYUH never cut the Red Storm lead to single digits falling in the end by 15.



Latoya Wiley. the third rank scorer in Division II. went for 32 points. 20 rebounds and six assists to pace the Seasiders. No other BYUH player reached double digits.



Dixie State finished 27-60 from the floor (45-percent) and 10-21 from beyond the arc (47.6-percent). BYU Hawaii shot 34.2-percent for the game (25-73). hitting only four three-pointers in 24 attempts. The Seasiders won the battle of the boards 50-45.



The Red Storm set out for their final road trip of the regular season against Notre Dame de Namur University next Friday and Saturday. February 27-28. Game time is scheduled for 5:30pm Pacific (6:30pm Mountain) on both nights.

STORM WATCH NOTE: The game was a part of PINK ZONE NIGHT. Over 1.500 schools and organizations are uniting in the fight against breast cancer by getting into the WBCA Pink Zone. February 13-22. The players wore pink shirts during warm-ups. pink socks/shoelaces during the game and the officials used pink whistles. At halftime. three breast cancer survivors spoke about their experiences and recovery.
