HILO. HI – The Dixie State women's basketball team could not rally late dropping the final game of their four-game Hawaiian road trip to the University of Hawaii-Hilo 73-70 at the Hilo Civic Auditorium.

Dixie State fell to 12-9. 5-3 in the Pacific West. Hilo improved to 9-7. 3-5 Pac West.

Shanae Vaifanua (Hurricane, UT/Hurricane). Jessie Ingraham (Tuscon. AZ/Canyon Del Oro) and Lindsey Chettinger (Sergeant Bluff. IA/Sergeant Bluff) each contributed 12 points while Deney Phommabout (West Valley CIty. UT/Hillcrest) scored 10. Ingraham had a double-double pulling down 10 rebounds and Tanya Clark (Beaumont. CA/Beaumont) paced the Red Storm off the glass with 11 boards.

Leading by five at the half. Dixie State pulled to as many as eight in the second half. Tenacious defense and a hot hand from Sheila Azevedo pulled the host Vulcans ahead with under a minute to play. Azevedo finished with a game-high 23 points.

The Red Storm will look to rebound inside the Burns Arena February 14 against Hawaii Pacific beginning at 5:30pm.
