Luna leads Red Storm with 13 kills

SAINT GEORGE, UT-The Dixie State College Volleyball team played its first match in 13 days and easily defeated Dominican University of California 25-16, 25-15, 25-11. Leading the Red Storm (15-7, 9-4) to victory over the Penguins (6-21, 1-12) was senior outside hitter Katie Luna (Mesa. AZ/Westwood High '05). She had a match high 13 kills and hitting a stellar .331 for the night. Several young players for Dixie State saw action tonight. Freshmen Aurie Robinson (Sandy, UT/Brighton ) and Madisyn Fitzgerald (Mesa, AZ/Mountain View) each recorded six kills. Dixie State dominated play from the onset, forcing Dominican to hit a .010 for the match. The Red Storm finished with a .323 average. At the nets, the Red Storm had the advantage as well, recording six blocks to two. The victory moves the Red Storm into a tie for 2nd place in the PacWest standings with Hawaii Pacific. Dixie State and Dominican will do battle again tomorrow at the Old Gym, first serve is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
