Red Storm hand #18 Hawaii Hilo first loss, remain tied for 1st in PacWest

Red Storm celebreat their victory over #18 Hawaii-Hilo
SAINT GEORGE, UT-After a close match last night against the #18 ranked University Hawaii Hilo, the Dixie State Red Storm volleyball team was seeking redemption to remain tied atop the PACWEST standings.

Redemption is what they got defeating the Vulcans in straight sets, 26-24, 25-17, and 25-21. With the victory the Red Storm (11-4, 5-1) handed UHH (16-1, 6-1) their first loss of the year.

Dixie State was led by Sophomore middle blocker Morgan Hill (Logan. UT, Logan). Hill had only 6 kills, but paced the Red Storm defense with 10 blocks (3 solo, 7 asst). Leading the offense was Freshman middle Madisyn Fitzgerald (Mesa, AZ, Mountain View)with 10 kills, followed by 9 kills from Sophomore OH Alex Shearer (Park City. UT, Park City).

Dixie State was able to outhit UHH .187 to .081. The difference in the match being the play at the nets from the Red Storm defense. 

UHH was led by 11 kills from Fabiene Saben and Morgan Bonney each.

Dixie State will continue their home stretch hosting BYU-Hawaii on Monday and Tuesday evening in the Old Gym. They are slated to begin at 7PM.
